Usages

Types of usage

Here are the definitions of the different usages:

  • Streaming: this allows you to control the availability of your releases on streaming services.

  • Download: this allows you to control the availability of your releases on downloading services.

  • Copyscan: this allows you to send audio fingerprints to all services that use content ID (YouTube, Soundcloud, Facebook…) in order to claim user generated content on these services. Once claimed, this content can be blocked or monetized.

  • Radio: this allows you to claim the audio fingerprints on non-interactive streaming DSPs, or so called “Radio” DSPs (Pandora, Slacker, iHeartRadio…).

  • AI training: this allows you to authorize the training of a generative AI model using your music.

  • AI generation: this allows generative AI to use your recording to generate new works (covers, remixes, style imitations).

Unlike the other usages, AI training and AI generation are set to off by default, on new labels, products and tracks. They need to be turned on explicitly if you want to authorize AI services to use your music.

AI usage is not the same as AI Contribution:
- AI usage describes what AI services may do with your music.
- AI Contribution (also called AI transparency) describes how a release was made, for example AI-generated vocals or artwork.

Managing Usages

It's possible to manage the different usages at the Label, Product and/or at Track Level.

It's then possible to send an album for Download or Streaming only for example by turning the Download or Streaming usage off:

Or let's say that you want to remove the Download usage for a specific track, you can simply turn off the Download usage on that specific track in the product's offer:
